LWM DRIVING SCHOOL - DRIVING INSTRUCTION
How do I obtain my provisional licence?

You need an application form D1 available from a post office. Send it completed with two passport-sized pictures to the DVLA Swansea. Your provisional driving licence fee is £50.00, you can also apply for this up to three months before your 17th Birthday.

What do I need to do before I can start driving?

Your provisional licence must be accepted and in your possession before you start driving. By law, you must also be able to read a standard size licence number plate from 20.5 meters (67 feet) or 20 metres (65 feet) where narrower.

How much does the theory and practical test cost?

Theory test cost £31.00,

Daytime practical test - £62.00

Weekend practical test - £75.00

How many lessons will I need?

Research referred to by the Driving Standard Agency (DSA) tell us candidates who take around 46 hours of professional tuition, together with at least 20 hours or more extra practice stand the best chance of passing their test.

How will I know when I'm ready for my test?  Mock test

You will know, I will help you to become self-critical, and recognise any faults you make. Discussion concerning test timing is welcome, and should be honest on both sides. I will have another instructor who will be unknown to you conduct a mock driving test and will give you  honest feedback; this will identify strengths and weaknesses. You should feel secure with your skills. It is important when settling upon going for test to be honest with yourself about your readiness.

How is my progress monitored?

Lesson progress will be monitored with a log book  and will be updated by me at the end of every lesson.

Is it hard to become a driving instructor.?
